Dr. Richard Glassberg

Dr. Richard Glassberg
Being the kid every stray followed home and the magnet for injured wildlife, of course I wanted to be an animal doctor. Fortunately, I had parents who let me make the lost and orphaned part of our family. I majored in Animal Husbandry in college and attended the University of Missouri College Of Veterinary Medicine. I do my best to treat animals and people, as I would want to be treated. I am a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the American Animal Hospital Association(Practitioner Affiliate), California Veterinary Medical Association, and the Southern California Veterinary Medical Association. I have been a volunteer member of the Board of Trustees of the Animal Health Foundation since 1969. I enjoy walking our "used racing dog”, Spy, gardening, reading and traveling.

Dr. James Grimes Dr. James Grimes
I have worked as a veterinarian for over 30 years, 25 of them at Sunnycrest. I do most of the surgery at the hospital so if you have any surgical questions I would be glad to answer them. My undergraduate degree is in Ecology and I graduated from the Colorado State University College of Veterinary Medicine. I have taken specialized courses in laser surgery, dentistry, and soft tissue surgery. In my spare time, I enjoy running marathons, reading, and playing with my two cats. I am a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, PETA, World Wildlife Fund, Wilderness Society, Nature Conservancy, Morris Animal Foundation, Marine Mammal Center, Rain Forest Action Network, American Birding Association, American Bird Conservancy, Sea Turtle Rescue Project, Ocean Conservancy, Greenpeace, and the Bolsa Chica Land Trust. My wife and I love to spend our vacations birding and trekking in exotic places.

Consulting Doctors
Dr. Jack The Late Dr. A. Robert Jack

Dr. Jack was our primary relief doctor for many years. Unfortunately he lost his battle with cancer and passed away in October 2010. We all miss Dr. Jack but he is here with us and a part of our team in spirit and always will be.  His compassion was and is an inspiration to our entire staff. Bob was an accomplished veterinarian and practiced the highest level of medicine and surgery. At the age of eight, Dr. Jack was patching up injured sheep on his family's farm. That experience motivated him to become an animal doctor. Bob was a big time Washington State Cougars Fans and his wife, Bonnie, continues the tradition! Dr. Jack was a founder and the President of the Society of Aquatic Veterinary Medicine and he and his wife Bonnie traveled the world scuba diving.
Dr. Mark Dr. Mark Kopit (and Tula)
Dr. Mark Kopit our visiting ultrasound doctor has over 20 years experience doing ultrasound and other specialized procedures. We are fortunate to have his expertise in our hospital for ultrasound examinations and internal medicine consultations. Dr. Kopit's friend Tula is always with him when he visits.

Erin Erin
Hi! My name is Erin. Just thought I would give you a quick run down on who I am & why my picture is here on the internet. I work for Sunnycrest Animal Care Center & love it. Of course, I love animals. I love to visit & play with all the animals here in our boarding facility. I know they miss their family when they are staying with us so I feel it is of great importance to pay extra attention to all of them. I also love that we have grooming. It is always fun to see the expression on the owners' face when they see the beautiful job our groomers have done. Most of all I love it when we get the chance to assure the owners that everything is going to be ok, "Their pets are in good hands".
Ashley Ashley

Plus, the staff here has really become a second family to my animals and me.

My years at Sunnycrest have been both educational and heartwarming. To see the love shared between owners and their pets is incredible and absolutely the best part of each day! The help we provide is given with kindness and love. Sunnycrest is a great place to go to every day!
Michelle
I started working at Sunnycrest Animal Care Center in June of 2011. I have two dogs, Princess Bella, Yogi Bear, and a fish named Marley. Currently, I’m working on my degree in Animal Science, and will continue my education to become a Veterinarian. What I really enjoy about working here is meeting all the wonderful people and animals that visit the hospital each day, knowing that in some way I have made a difference in their lives. I am grateful to have been given the opportunity to learn from and work with such an incredible team of doctors and staff. Animals have, and will always hold a special place in my heart.

In the picture with me is my buddy "Raisin."

Patient Support Team
Kenya Kenya
I was dumped off at Sunnycrest Animal Care Center suffering a seizure. The doctors and staff nursed me back to health and I decided that they should all work for me since they were so happy to save my life. I do my best to run the place now and pretty much manage to get my way. I am always good comfort for the pets that come for help. I love all living creatures and fear none.
Buster
I’m Buster and was left at Mrs. PetLove’s Bed and Breakfast Inn by my family who went on vacation and never came back to pick me up. I was a resident upstairs in cat boarding for several months but when Tracy realized my owners had abandoned me I got to move downstairs to live with Kenya in the Treatment area. You can probably tell from my picture that I love to eat and with a big staff taking care of me I’m good at making people think I haven’t had my treats yet.

Peggy Jack
My name is Peggy Jack. I got my last name because Dr. Jack saved my life. I was brought in after being in labor for three days by my ex-owners. Dr. Jack saved me by taking me away from the people I used to live with. He did a Caesarian Section to take a dead kitten out of me and against all odds I survived with only a bad leg. That’s why they call me Peggy … even though I don’t really have a “peg leg”, I do have one that doesn’t work too well.

Purrdy
My name is Purrdy and that’s because everyone thinks I’m pretty purrdy. I got dumped off at the stables by someone I don’t even remember. I used to hang out in the garage at Sunnycrest and wait for someone to get to work and let me inside. Whoever got to work first let me in and fed me a big breakfast. After a few weeks I got adopted. When I first came they were going to find me a home but I have such a great personality they just couldn’t let me go. My spot is at the front desk where I spend most of the day supervising things. I like to lie on the printer because it is nice and warm and being there gets me a lot of attention. At night I stay with Peggy, Kenya and Buster back in treatment.
